Top 5 reasons to make a wedding album

A physical reminder of your special day

There is nothing quite as awesome when it comes to photography as digital. I love digital and it allows me to do my job efficiently. Not to mention how nice it is to be able to view my images on a screen. With those benefits though, I am still a firm believer that it's important to have your wedding prints displayed in a photo album.

With the average amount spent on wedding photography in the USA being 2550, it's important to get the most out of your wedding package. To support this, I'm going to give you the top reasons why you should get your wedding pictures put in an album.

1. Protect and preserve those precious memories

As convenient and nice as it is to have a digital copy of your beautiful pictures, there is still a risk that those images can be deleted or become corrupt due to a hard drive crashing. Allow me to give you an example here. In my earlier days of photography I always stored my images on an external drive. I thought that this was the safest way to

protect those valuable images and I found out the hard way that I was dead wrong. With no backup my drive crashed and I lost two years of digital images. Two years of my hard work and others memories gone. That was my lesson about the importance having physical copies as well as redundant backup. Don't let this happen to you. Make those beautiful memories into a wonderful wedding album that you can enjoy and share with others for years to come.

2. A wedding album is a story book

Wedding albums are a fantastic way to tell the story of your entire magical day. From the beginning with the engagement photos all the way through to the final dance, the wedding album is your photo journal. There is no easier way to share your special day with family and friends than sitting on the couch going through your wedding album. In paper form, this is your story to be shared for generations.

3. An album to pass down for generations

Another wonderful benefit of a wedding album is that you can pass it down to your children and they to their children for generations to come. Even if you aren't thinking that far ahead, it's still a wonderful memento to be cherished far into the future.

4. A different way to view your pictures

In this digital society we have made it very convenient to store and review our images. We can sit down at the computer and go through hundreds of photographs is 20 minutes. A wedding album holds at most 80 pictures and contains the very best of each moment of your big day. When you sit to select the images to include in your album, you are forced to look closely at each image and choose the ones that speak to you the most. Those chosen images are then beautifully displayed for you to reminisce at any time. The turning of the pages and the feel of a tangible photograph put you back in those moments and feelings. The time you take viewing your album often gives rise to the noticing of things in your photos that you wouldn't have noticed in the digital form.

5. The most for your money

As mentioned earlier, you will spend a lot on your photography. With the ever increasing rise of prices for quality wedding photography services, there is no reason to not spend the small extra amount to have a wonderful keepsake of your wedding day. You are paying for high quality service so why not display those beautiful images for all to see?

I hope this article helps you when making a decision as to whether to get an album or not. Most of my clients purchase a wedding album through me or select a package which includes a wedding album. Either way, choose what is best for your unique situation. Just remember how nice it will be to share that album with everyone you know!
